PREVIEW · IN DEVELOPMENT A first look at Plectuno
PLECTUNO

LEARN · PRACTISE · APPLY

What you practise.
What you play.

Connect the notes to the music. A guitar practice method for understanding what you learn, developing your technique and using it over a backing track.

Plan your next practice ↗

Plectuno is currently in testing. It will launch when it is ready.

THREE WAYS TO USE PLECTUNO

One app. Your way forward.

Follow a guided course, organise your session or work on your own exercises. You can combine all three.

01 · LEARNING PATH

Learn step by step

Build a foundation, work through guided lessons and pick up where you left off. Browse the Library for material that fits your level or style.

02 · TODAY

Give your practice a structure

The Plectuno method organises your session and suggests exercises based on your level and goal. Change the blocks, choose lessons from the Library or add activities from My Material.

03 · YOUR EXERCISES

Work on what you need

Bring your own material, whether you learn on your own or with a teacher. Get feedback on notes and timing in supported exercises, or study without a score.

Prepare your material ↗

A scale goes beyond its last note.

It comes to life when you know
what to play with it.

FOUR BLOCKS. ONE PURPOSE.

Practise with a purpose.

Start with the plan in Today or choose the material you want to work on. Each block prepares you for the next, so you can use what you learn when you play.

01 / PREPARE

Warmup

Start slowly with a familiar exercise that connects to what you will play next. Choose one from Plectuno or use your own.

02 / UNDERSTAND

Theory

Learn or revisit scales, chords and arpeggios. Find the notes and hear how they sound before using them in your playing.

03 / DEVELOP

Technique

Choose the technique you want to learn or improve. Aim for clean, even playing at a comfortable speed before raising the tempo.

04 / MAKE MUSIC

Applied theory and technique

Bring the theory and technique into the same key and create phrases over a backing track. Listen to how they fit into a musical context.

Why this order? You warm up before more demanding technical work and finish by using what you learned. Pause, repeat or change blocks whenever you need to.

LISTEN. UNDERSTAND. PLAY AGAIN.

Feedback that helps
you move forward.

Use the metronome, listen to your playing and see what happened in supported exercises. Review notes and timing, then choose a tempo for your next take.

Assessment has limits. An uncertain reading can have several causes. Plectuno distinguishes practice, partial results and reference exercises.

YOUR MUSIC, YOUR WAY

A library
you can make your own.

Keep lessons and your own material together. Organise exercises in folders so you can find them again when you need them.

Bring your own exercises, a passage you want to work on or material from your teacher. Import a supported Guitar Pro or digital PDF file and check the reading before you practise.

  1. Choose your file. Plectuno reads supported content.
  2. Check the converted exercise. Compare the notes and rhythm with the original before confirming.
  3. Save and practise. Choose a folder and tempo, then use the metronome or assessment where available.

Conversion and assessment of imported material are experimental. You can keep photos and scans as references. Reliable musical conversion from them is still in development.

BETWEEN LESSONS

Your teacher sets the task.
You keep moving forward.

Choose your material and practise with a goal, whether you learn on your own or work with a teacher.

For students

Bring your teacher’s exercises, set the tempo and practise between lessons. In supported material, see where you were early or late and which notes need another look. Your teacher can listen and assess your progress at your next lesson.

For teachers

Prepare exercises and share them with your students in a supported format. They can bring them into Plectuno and work on them until the next lesson. You can also use the app for your own practice and review the details of your takes.

From the basics to advanced material, each exercise shows what can be assessed. Plectuno supports practice between lessons while the teacher guides learning in class.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Your guitar. The right connection.

Audio input

Assessment testing has focused on iPhone and iPad with audio interfaces. Compatibility depends on the device, interface and exercise.

What we measure

Notes and timing in supported material. Posture and the physical movements used to play a technique are outside the scope of assessment.

Still in testing

Android and microphone-based assessment are in testing. Bends, vibrato, slides and very fast passages have assessment limits.

FOR ANY PRACTICE SESSION

Tune up. Find your pulse.

Tuner · instruments, tunings and precision

Detect notes automatically or select a string in guided mode. See the note, octave, frequency and deviation in cents. The A4 reference is adjustable from 400 to 480 Hz, with 440 Hz as the usual setting.

Six-string guitar supports standard, Drop D, D standard, E-flat standard, Drop C, Open G and DADGAD. Seven-string supports standard and Drop A, and eight-string supports standard and Drop E. Four-string bass supports standard and Drop D. Ukulele and violin support standard tuning.

Metronome · tempo, accents and silence

Set 30 to 300 BPM directly or use Tap Tempo. Choose 1 to 32 beats per bar with a half-note, quarter-note, eighth-note or sixteenth-note beat unit. Set a downbeat accent, custom accents and beat groupings.

Gap Click alternates 1 to 8 bars with clicks and 1 to 8 bars of silence, with an optional visual guide. Save, recall and delete named settings. The standalone metronome does not assess your playing.

Do I have to follow the Learning Path?

You can combine the Learning Path, Today and your own exercises. Explore the three ways to use Plectuno.

Does every lesson give me a score?

Some lessons are studies, reference exercises or free practice without assessment. Scored exercises show what can be assessed. Partial results do not count as a pass.

Can I bring my own sheet music?

Yes. You can import supported Guitar Pro files and digital PDFs, then check the reading before practising. Some notation and musical expressions may be read incorrectly or remain unsupported. Keep only material you have the right to use.

Is it useful if I already have a teacher?

Yes. Bring their exercises in a supported format, practise at your own tempo and review note and timing feedback where available. Your teacher can then listen and assess your playing in class.

Is it suitable for every level?

You can organise practice from the basics to advanced material. Assessment depends on the passage, including limits for expressive techniques, legato and very fast notes. If the evidence is uncertain, a result may be partial or unavailable.

How much does it cost and when will it launch?

Plectuno is in development. Launch timing, plans and pricing are still to be announced. This preview does not offer downloads or purchases.
